What is it about?

Through Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA), we can set you up to be part of a World Conservation program.

A unique way to volunteer, you’ll meet and live alongside new people in great places while you complete conservation projects together!

World Conservation offers the chance to make your trip overseas a valuable learning experience – See the world and give something back!


What will I be doing?

CVA offers opportunities in a broad range of locations, with more projects becoming available all the time. Do your bit to help build a sustainable future for the planet, while enjoying some brilliant overseas travel!

World Conservation programs run from 2 to 6 weeks, with the option to request for extra weeks.

Examples of projects available include:
- Baboon surveys in South Africa
- Turtle monitoring in Costa Rica
- Trail building, revegetation and habitat projects in California
- Trail building and stream restoration in Alaska
- Urban renewal – creating community gardens in Baltimore
- Dry stone walling and tree planting in Ireland
- Marine conservation projects in Los Angeles
- Heritage projects in Italy and France
- Trail building and revegetation in Yellowstone Park, Montana

Whichever project you choose, you’ll be working alongside local people and helping to protect, preserve and restore their environment.


What does it cost?

The cost of the program varies from $50 - $150 per day, depending on the location.

What does it include?

The program price includes meals, accommodation, project-related transport in country, 12 months membership of CVA, and a CVA t-shirt. Each team is accompanied by a CVA Team Liaison.

The cost does not include recreational activities, international airfare, airline departure and arrival taxes, visa and passport charges, or travel and medical insurance.

Who runs it?

Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) is Australia’s leading practical conservation organisation, founded in 1982. CVA is both not for profit and non-political. Our overseas host agencies are youth conservation corps, environmental or historical restoration groups, government departments or community organisations. Volunteers participate alongside host agency staff, corps members and local volunteers while often sharing in community activities. A CVA Team Liaison accompanies each team.

Am I eligible?

You must be aged between 15 and 70. No specific scientific or technical skills are required.
