STA Travel is pleased to announce the appointment of David Burns to Managing Director of STA Travel Australia/New Zealand.
After two years in the role, Euan Friday will be leaving STA Travel at the end of this week to join a business involved in sustainable agriculture investments. STA Travel has been planning the transition for a number of months.
David Burns will be taking over as Managing Director, STA Travel Australia/New Zealand as of today. He joins the business with over 25 years experience in the travel industry across Australia and New Zealand. Most recently Burns was Executive General Manager Asia/Pacific of Flight Centre’s corporate travel arm, FCm.
Under Burns leadership, STA Travel will continue to transform its operations through new technology and the ability to offer services across all channels. Burns is most excited by the product offering available at STA Travel for the youth sector, placing the business in a unique position within the market.
“We will continue catering like no-one else to the youth market. The student market is increasingly buoyant and on-campus will continue to be a strong part of our operations,” commented Burns.
Euan Friday joined the business in 2000 as CFO before taking on the Director of Sales role in 2003 and the position of Managing Director Australia/New Zealand in July 2005.
“Over the past seven years Euan Friday has made an outstanding contribution to the business and we wish him every success in his future endeavours,” said Peter Liney, CEO of STA Travel.
During his time as Managing Director Euan has led the business through a period of profound change which has seen the advent of our new technology future as well as making a substantial contribution to the global senior management team. Friday will be joining a business which is involved in the delivery of sustainable agricultural investments for superannuation funds.
