What is it about?
Spend an unforgettable year in South Korea working and earning as an English teacher. With opportunities at schools throughout South Korea, you could find yourself caught up in the exciting bustle of Seoul or surrounded by the relaxing beauty of the smaller towns.
You’ll teach for about 30 hours a week and then spend the rest of your time preparing lessons, sampling local cuisine, visiting the sites or learning a bit of Korean from your colleagues. TEFL training, airfare and accommodation are all included.
Spend a year living in working in amazing South Korea on the i-to-i earning-Venture. This is a fantastic opportunity for travellers to experience the delights of this amazing Asian country, and be paid for the pleasure!
With seven World Heritage sites and an array of important stone pagodas, lanterns and sculptures, South Korea still remains off the beaten track. It has scores of national parks where you can go mountain biking and rafting, or zoom down powdered ski slopes. There are alluring islands and of course, thriving cities like Seoul that are clean and friendly. Even the cost of living is low so it’s easy to explore local historical sites or venture further to other exotic South East Asia destinations.
Though South Korea has 5,000 years of history it is a progressive country and as such, the perfect place to step into the world of teaching English as a foreign language. Plus, with the i-to-i earning-Venture experience the volunteer abroad receives TEFL training, a professional placement, housing, a monthly salary and airfare.
i-to-i is an award-winning volunteer travel and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) training organisation, providing courses, teaching placements and volunteer projects across the globe. The company currently operates in countries across the globe, with projects throughout Latin America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. South Korea is currently the only paid placement.
What you’ll need
Because of the high standards maintained in Korean schools and teaching establishments, English teachers need to fulfil a number of requirements before being accepted on this placement.
A full degree in any subject To be a native English speaker. To undertake TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) training before taking up your post in Korea. However, comprehensive i-to-i TEFL training is included as part of this package. A CV (resume) during the application process To give a 12-month commitment
What you’ll receive
Included in the i-to-i earning Venture is a comprehensive package to help you throughout your stay. This comprises:
A salary of about AUS$2,000 – 2,700 per month A return ticket paid on completion of the project Fully-furnished, rent-free accommodation (usually shared) Comprehensive i-to-i TEFL training TEFL grammar and lesson plan books Airport pick-up plus orientation. Transfer to school in Korea.
You’ll only need to cover food (approx. US$40 per week) and your in-country transport (except airport pick-up). Flight and visa costs (flight costs will be reimbursed on successful completion of your contract).
Note: It is your school in Korea, not i-to-i, that is responsible for providing the above. Travel insurance isn’t included.
