UK Working Visa changes

Young Aussies can now work in the UK for 2 full years!

So you’ve probably heard all the talk lately about the UK Working Visa. Yep, it’s changing on the 27th November 2008! But really, what’s all the fuss about?

In a nutshell? Young Aussies aged 18-30 will be able to work cheaper and easier in the UK!

For the first time ever, there are no restrictions around how long you can spend working in the UK – instead of 12 months, you can work the full 2 years of your UK visa stay if you want!

You can even line up a full time job in the UK before applying for the visa - before you even leave home!

Plus, the new visas under the Youth Mobility Scheme will be cheaper by half – the equivalent of £99 compared with £205 for a Working Holidaymaker visa. Yay for extra cash!

The new visas will still be valid for two years, and you’ll also need to have some cash saved up - the equivalent of £1600 (about A$3,900 at today’s exchange rate) - to prove you can cover your first few weeks in the UK…

But seriously, the big upside is that these new visas will allow you to do almost any kind of work, as well as spending as much time working over the two years as you like!

So make sure you mark the 27th November 2008 down in your calendar and head over to the UK for your two-year-share of pubs, pints and all things pom!
