Train Adventures

The Vodkatrain - Arrive in Beijing, this city is rapidly expanding but still has an undeniable charm.  Squashed between high rises you will find Buddist temples next to racy night clubs, fresh hawker food stalls and designer clothes stalls.Travel to Ulaanbaatar, a tiny city where horses outnumber cars, dragging itself into the 21st century but still retaining its unpredicatability and quirkiness.  You are advised to mind the local moonshine here.  You then get the unique opportunity to stay in a traditional Mongolian Ger with a local family for two nights, this is undoubtedly a highlight of any trip to Mongolia.  From here it's on to Irkutsk this sleepy city offers traditional Russia hospitality, but it comes with a hefty shot of Siberian Vodka!  Fortunately you are moving on to Lake Baikal where you can get some sobering fresh air and and icy dip or enjoy some time in the sauna.  Next stop Moscow, home to the Kremlin and a thriving underground club scene there is no shortage of things to see here.  Last stop on the line is St Petersburg, the centre of Russias alternative culture - and one of Europe's most unusal live music scenes.  The 'Venice of the North' St Petersburg fails to disappoint.
