What is it about?

The Work Canada Programme is a 12 month working holiday programme for people aged between 18-30 years.  It is possible to stay on in Canada for a second year ask us how!  STA Travel have joined forces with IEP to ensure we can offer great support packages to make sure that your working holiday in Canada is absolutely fantastic!

What will I be doing?

Your work visa allows you to legally work anywhere in Canada and for any employer. However, to work in child or healthcare (including primary or secondary teaching) you need to have a medical approved by the Canadian Government prior to having your visa issued.

The type of job you do depends on you! There are many cities and towns throughout Canada that can offer you cool work opportunities from jobs on the slopes to café work and career-related employment.

Work Canada Job Fair $695 (ie. an extra $170 on top of the Work Canada Programme if you would like to attend the job fair)
Canadian Visa fee $200

Who runs it?

International Exchange Programmes (IEP) is a non-profit organisation specialising in sending young New Zealanders overseas on working holidays. Along with their Canadian partner, SWAP, BUNAC, they are there to assist you before you leave home and while you are working and travelling overseas.

Am I eligible?

For the Work Canada Programme you must:

  • Hold a valid New Zealand passport which is valid for at least two years from date of application
  • Not have activated a 'Letter of Introduction' for a previous Working Holiday Programme from the Canadian High Commission
  • Be aged between 18-30 years inclusive at time of application. The application must be stamped by the Canadian Consulate on or prior to their 31st birthday. Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application (not at the time of travel)
  • Have no criminal convictions
  • Have no serious medical conditions
  • Have no accompanying dependants
  • Be travelling on a return or onward passage ticket
  • Be able to provide evidence on arrival in Canada of access to NZ$4000 to show you have sufficient funds to support yourself on arrival
