What is it about?

Work Canada is a 12 month working holiday support programme for people aged between 18-30 years.

The Work Canada Job Fair option allows you to meet Canadian employers face to face and secure a job before going.

Winter Job Fair dates for 2009:

  • Auckland - August (to be confirmed)
  • Christchurch - August (to be confirmed)

What will I be doing?

Your work visa allows you to legally work anywhere in Canada and for any employer.

Winter Job Fair positions - The jobs available at the Job Fair are working at some of the best Canadian ski and mountain resorts. There are a variety of jobs up for grabs, these include: dish washers, wait staff, activities staff, retail assistants, front office agents, lift attendants, snow makers and ski/snowboard instructors to name a few!

Canadian Visa Fee $200 (Payable to the Canadian High Commission)

What does it include?

o Access to 100's of resort jobs at IEP's Work Canada Job Fair Days in New Zealand
o Face-to-face interview with two different employers (for multiple jobs)

Who runs it?

International Exchange Programmes (IEP) is a non-profit organisation specialising in sending young New Zealanders overseas on working holidays. Along with their Canadian partner, SWAP, they are there to assist you before you leave home and while you are working and travelling overseas. They are here to support you to have the best time ever.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for a 12-month Canadian work visa, you need to;

  • Hold a New Zealand passport which is valid for at least two years from date of application
  • Not have activated a Letter of Introduction for a previous NZWHP from the Canadian High Commission.
  • Must be aged between 18-30 years inclusive at time of application. Your application must be stamped by the Canadian Consulate on or prior to your 31st birthday
  • Have no criminal convictions. Minor offences may be admissible. If you have any convictions please contact the IEP office prior to applying.
  • Have no serious medical conditions
  • Have no accompanying dependants
  • Must be able to provide evidence on arrival in Canada of access to NZ$4,000 (credit card or savings) to show sufficient funds to support yourself on arrival
  • If you’re a student then you are only eligible for the Work Canada Job Fair if you are able to stay in Canada for a minimum of 4 months (most employers require a 5 months commitment)
