Carnival baby! This is a Mardi Gras you'll never forget. It's SO big that people start partying in January and February. |
Carnival is the world's largest Mardi Gras fest with parades, scantily-clad dancing ladies, drummers, samba artists, free concerts and overall non-stop merriment.
It officially runs from Friday to Fat Tuesday (of course) but locals start the celebrations waaaay before that. We're talking months! So, by the time you get there, the party will be in full swing.
From Rio you'll head to Frankfurt and then on to Berlin, Germany, which is a party city year round!

Berlin nightlife is really incredible! You'll find clubs in old breweries, post offices and warehouses. |
Berlin is a vibrant and exhilarating capital city with 3.4 million people who love to celebrate. In fact, Berlin has something going on almost every weekend of the year and there's so much different stuff to do that Berlin has one of the most diverse "social calenders" in Europe!
What really sets Berlin apart is that it welcomes experientation in the arts. Anything goes here because the city enjoys a liberal lifestyle. It thrives on being a center for youth and pop culture.
Some of the festivals to check out include the Internationale Filmfestspiele, Karneval der Kulturen, Love Parade techno fest, and Jazzfest.
Keep the party going with the next stop - Mumbai, India. You probably still think of it as Bombay, the English name given during British control in the 17th century. The name changed to Mumbai officially in '95.
Mumbai is located on the western coast of India, near the top, and is the commercial and entertainment center of the country.

Now, when you think of Mumbai, or India, you might think of incredible food, exhuberant colors, and, of course, Bollywood. Now think about all of that charisma and multiply it. That's what you get when this city throws a party! Here are a few for example.
The Mumbai Festival in January is all about bringing the city together through food, dancing and music.
The Kala Ghoda Festival presents two weeks of arts and performance each February. You'll get a real taste of local life at this celebration and it benefits improvements in the neighborhood.
The big kahuna, however, is the Ganesh Chaturthi - which honors the elephant-headed diety, Ganesh. This is a national holiday, though Mumbai celebrates with a 10-day festival from the end of August to the beginning of September.
The final stop on the "Parties/Festivals" 'Round the World itinerary is Bangkok, and THIS city will not disappoint.

Songkran celebrates Thai New Year through the extensive use of water! Everyone washes their Buddhas as a means to bring good luck and prosperity. There's also a city-wide water gun fight! |
There's always fun to be had in Bangkok, especially along Khao San Road. But, the city puts on its best party hat for Buddhist holidays, the rainy season, the King's birthday, the Queen's birthday, and 3 New Year's celebrations.
They celebrate international, Chinese and Thai New Year's. The biggest one of these is Songkran - a city-wide water fight in April.
The party scene goes year round at any of the incredible night clubs in Bangkok. If you venture south to the islands, you'll be in for one unforgettable night after another. The Full Moon Party on Haad Rin Beach on Koh PhaNgan starts night of a full moon and keeps going until sunrise. All of the bars stay open and keep the music going and drinks flowing.
On non-Full Moon Party Nights, the beach is still a party with loud music, buckets-o-drinks and dancing. It's a ton of fun for no other reason than to just party. Awesome.
The "Parties/Festivals" itinerary will test your stamina but is filled with such amazing stops that you'll be on adrenaline and loving every minute of it. You'll probably want to edit what you blog about and make sure not to show mom every single picture you take.
You're gonna have fun and it's gonna be crazy!!
