Non-stop partying in a central location!

Staff very friendly and approachable if needed, free "travellers meal" for people staying within the hostel was very good considering it was free! So many new faces coming & going constantly, very big party scene every night in Cairns! Rooms quite basic and not the biggest, but just what you need for a few days.

The hostel has it's own Bar/Club on site which is packed every night of the week. Good atmosphere.
It is very central. Plenty of bars/clubs/restaraunts/shops nearby. Marina quite a short walk away also.

En-suite bathrooms, clean rooms, attached club made my first two nights in australia fun and memorable. A must for any traveller in Cairns!

The hostel is very clean and spacious. The nightlife is pretty wild and the alcohol offers are excellent. However, if you want something at night other than to be surrounded by drunken people, Gilligans is your worst choice. It's fun initially but then the fun fades and rather than being able to have a couple of beers with a few people you are instantly surrounded by people whos main aim is to hook up and get intoxicated to the extreme. Glad to be out of there.

This is a good hostel if you 18-21 and want to party. if you want to sleep because you have an early start for a trip do not stay here. Also it is overpriced for what it is - we stayed at a smaller hostel 2 mins walk away 20aud for a twin room and we were paying 33 at gilligans. You can stay elsewhere and still use the facilities so depends what you are after.

Although it wasn't really the sort of place to relax on a holiday it is a great palce to meet lots of other people doing the same sort of thing as you, and with an attached night club there is always somewhere to go. The shower and bathroom set up was also really impressive.
