About New South Wales
New South Wales is the oldest and most populated state in Australia. Home to Australia's cosmopolitan city, Sydney, there's no shortage of adventure. Take a trip to see the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney harbour, and climb the Harbour Bridge for an amazing view of the surrounds... if you're brave enough.
Sydney’s laid-back vibe and outdoor lifestyle make it one of the world’s easiest and most pleasant cities to visit. The city has a wide range of museums and galleries and some outstanding contemporary and colonial architecture.
Sydney also has beaches a-plenty (the world famous buzzing Bondi beach as well as loads of quieter hidden gems), non stop sporting events, a vibrant nightlife and some of the best eateries for miles around. With so much to see and do in Sydney it would be easy to ignore the rest of the New South Wales - but do this and you'll be missing out!
Out of the city
In the other direction you have the vineyards of the Hunter Valley with a great choice of food and accomodation - so you won't have far to stagger after an evening of wonderful wine tasting!
Also within easy reach is the Outback – full of adventure and some of Australia’s most memorable characters. The rugged natural beauty of the Outback never fails to astound and its welcoming locals will charm you with their stories.
The vastness of New South Wales and the variety of things on offer can be a bit daunting but don't let it deter you - with a little bit of reading up and planning ahead you'll be amazed how much you can pack in!
The Blue Mountains to the west offer spectacular scenery, some mighty walks and if you're lucky a smattering of snow in August! In winter visit the Snowy Mountains and you can go night skiing, downhill or cross-country skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing whilst in summer marvel at mountain flowers, grazing wallabies and grand scenery.
