Destination Inspiration

Thailand doesn’t stop at bustling Bangkok markets and a hammock on the beach. Behind the beachside bungalows and luxury spa retreats, you’ll find snapshots of Thai life with aromatic street vendors, tuk tuks, junglestrewn temples and giant Buddhas.

When to Visit Thailand

Thailand is hot all year round but it does experience some pretty awesome thunderstorms in the rainy season. The main rainy season falls between May and October but don't let this put you off. The downpours are usually short and sharp and the scenery can be pretty spectacular - plus you'll bag yourself some sweet deals on accommodation and flights if you go during off-peak times. However, the rain can make getting around a little bit trickier so bare this in mind if you're short on time. Mind you, being stranded on a paradise Thai island for an extra day or two isn't the worst thing in the world...

How to get there

Getting to Thailand is pretty easy, with regular flights to and from most major airports. Return fares, one-ways, student name, we got it! Search below to find the cheapest flights to Bangkok, Phuket and more with exclusive fares for students and those under 26.

Top Thailand Experiences

With world-class beaches, tropical jungle to explore, bustling cities and infamous beach parties - it was pretty tough trying to pick our favourite Thailand experiences. Check out our top Thailand highlights below for some big trip inspiration...

Island Hopping & Sailing

There are so many Thai islands it's hard to choose which ones to go to, which is why a sailing or island hoppng tour can be a great way to see multiple islands if you're short on time. If you've got a bit more time on your hands, head to the quieter islands like Koh Phayam - hire a scooter (it's the only way to get around), find your own little slice of paradise and just sit back and relax.

Energy-consuming, humid, heaving, chattering with beeping horns, whooshing tuk tuks and rowdy street markets; this is Thailand's capital. You'll either love it or hate it. Be mesmerised by the unrelenting traffic, glitzy MBK Mall, resplendent Grand Palace and 5.5-ton Golden Buddha. Eat pad thai, listen to live reggae at a rooftop bar, then get haggling for a pair of bright orange cheap Ray-Bans.

Beach Parties

Thailand is famous for crazy, Sangsom-fuelled all-night beach parties. Just a word of caution - you WILL wake up horribly hungover and your clothes WILL get covered in rave paint (which doesn't come off). Although the full moon party is the big one, make sure you check out the black moon and half-moon parties. They're smaller and have a friendlier vibe than their hugely popular neighbour.

Hilltribes Trek

Head off into the hills of northern Thailand. Learn about the local way of life and enjoy a delicious meal cooked by locals as you sit on top of a hill surrounded by jungle at the end of a fun day trekking. Float down a river on a bamboo raft as you make your way back towards Chiang Mai. Once the tour is over, hire a bicycle and explore the temples, or cook up a feast at a local cooking course.
