Why we love Hop-on Hop-off Bus Travel

Flexible and independent travel

Choose your favourite route and hop-on and off where you choose. You’ll find it easy to access timetables online to keep you fully informed about where and when to pick up the next bus. Bookings for the next part of your journey are also easy to do online - book the day before you travel or as early as possible during the busy season November to March. Travel the rail sectors at your own pace with or without a guide. All passes are valid for 12 months from your first day of travel.

Transport

Hop-on Hop-off have their own orange buses throughout Laos, but be prepared to take on any form of transport - you will be on boats, trains and tuk-tuks where needed. For extra tuk-tuk rides, optional activities and attraction entry to museums, caves, waterfalls etc. you will need about an extra $5 cash per day.

Do things along the way

Visit the Plain of Jars in Phonsavan and check out the Hintang Archeological Park in BanTao Hin for an Asian ‘stonehenge’ experience. Time is built in to do the iconic tubing in Vang Vieng without having to miss a day on your trip. Each day there’ll be time for photos, wats, cows, chickens, locals, elephants, egg on a stick…everything!

Unique stops and activities

No one goes where we go. Pioneering into the Lao landscape will be a daily occurrence! On Hop-on Hop-off you will have done more than anyone would have thought possible; elephant riding, silk weaving and day treks to villages that are so off the beaten track they aren’t even on the map!

Accommodation

We will reserve accommodation for you - local guesthouses in most stops. The prices range from US$5 for a shared room to US$24 for a twin or double. Tents are available if the unexpected happens.

The best people

We don’t attract an age group, they attract an attitude - one of exploration and openmindedness. This goes for the crew as well as you, the crew (both western and Lao) are prepared for an awesome cultural experience. All the guides are trained together so that the western guides have intimate knowledge about the Lao culture and the Lao guides know about western culture.

Get off the beaten track and save

Travelling with us you will save money on everything. In Laos and Thailand numbers matter, so as a group you’ll get better value than if you were travelling alone for things like activities and accommodation. We have worked out the best routes and timetables so you can save time by knowing where you’re going while not wasting any time working out how to get there.

Travel Responsibly

We use new mini-coaches for lower emissions. They train all their guides to respect the culture and environment and educate travellers to have this same respect. They use eco-friendly local guides who will take you further off the beaten track. You’ll be directed to local markets and shown where you can buy fair trade goods (the best coffee and weaving in the world) so that the local people are justly rewarded.
