24 Hours in Burleigh on Queensland’s Gold Coast

Insider tips from Kelly Brown – Griffith University Gold Coast:

The Gold Coast, Australia is east of Brisbane and full of sun, surf and sand. Home to rainforest, beaches, and some of the best surf in all of the country, what better way to understand more about this city than an insider’s view on one of the Gold Coast’s quieter spots, Burleigh.

Burleigh has got to be one of my favourite spots on the Gold Coast. It’s a great little hub 20 minutes’ drive from tourist-packed Surfers Paradise and has all the essentials: sun, surf, and food.

Taking a stroll down James Street is a must. Not only is it bustling with cute little boutiques, but the Gold Coast famous ‘Fish Mongers’ will hook you up with some seriously good fish and chips. The Burleigh Village Green Grocer just next door also makes a mean juice to wash it down with – it’s always busy but well worth the wait!

Burleigh Hill provides the best views of the coastline –Surfers Paradise to the north and Coolangatta to the south. You can even spot some whales come migration season!

And if all that isn’t enough for you then grab yourself an ice cream and kick back on the beach! If you walk along the lower walking trail on Burleigh Hill there’s a quiet little shore away from the surf.

Didn’t get enough Burleigh-lovin’ during the day? Head to Justin Lane rooftop bar and pizzeria to kick off your night.

Honestly, you won’t Burleigh(ve) what Burleigh has to offer. You’ll just have to come to the Coast and see for yourself!
